An Announcement from Board President Larry Herron
December 15, 2016 – I’d like to share very good news with you this holiday season. The M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, based in Vancouver, WA, has awarded Early Music Guild a grant of $120,000! This wonderful award increases EMG’s capacity to deepen and broaden our programming, spreading the appreciation of our great and life-enhancing music throughout Western Washington.
To be paid over three years, the grant supports the hiring of a full-time development director and provides resources to support our friend-building and fund-raising initiatives.
This award is given in the Murdock Trust’s 40th year (and also in Early Music Guild’s 40th year) of fulfilling its mission as stated in the will of Melvin J. (Jack) Murdock: to “strengthen the region’s educational, cultural, and spiritual base in creative and sustainable ways”. The Trust, in awarding this grant to EMG, is particularly impressed by the loyalty and generosity of you, our supporters. We cannot thank you enough!
You are the reason Early Music Guild exists. Founded almost 40 years ago by early music enthusiasts, we will energetically launch our fifth decade because you and so many others sustain your loyal support and your love for the music we produce and present. Now, with this tremendous support from the Murdock Trust, we will reach out more effectively to audiences, current and new, with the music that improves our lives beyond measure.
With warm wishes for a safe and happy holiday season!
Larry Herron, Board President
