This popular workshop for amateur and aspiring professional musicians, now in
its fourth year, will explore the influence of Italian music in England in the
16th and 17th centuries. Workshop director and bowed stings specialist
Margriet Tindemans has assembled a prestigious faculty for the occasion, including
Drew
Minter (voice), Mark Rimple (lute),
Tom Zajac (winds), Anna Mansbridge
(early dance), and Ingrid Matthews (early violin).
Classes will cover:
Classes and ensemble offerings for this two-day course will
cover the gamut (literally), including madrigals and part songs, lute song,
continuo song, solo sonatas for violin and recorder, music from opera and
the masque, and early notation and theory. As usual, consorts for viols and
recorders will be a mainstay of the workshop.

Who should attend:
Instrumentalists (viola da gamba, lute, harp, violin, recorder and related
instruments) and vocalists. This workshop is offered to advanced amateurs and
aspiring professionals, while at all times classes for less advanced players
will be organized on demand.
