Recorders and Recorder-Making

Internationally known recorder maker David Ohannesian demonstrates his craft in a 45-min. presentation and performs on a wide range of instruments -- from the familiar soprano recorder to a 6'3"-tall contrabass recorder. A slide show visually demonstrates the history and the making of recorders.

Violin-Making

Woodcut of ViolinInternationally known violin maker David Van Zandt brings his knowledge of the materials, tools, and nature of violin-making into the classroom. Using instruments in the process of being built and a wide variety of materials (an open violin, pieces of wood in various preparatory stages, different violins, etc.), he shows the process of transforming a tree into a musical instrument.
(Not available as an assembly.)
