The Early Music Ensemble of the Kiili School of Arts was
formed in 2003. The ensemble has performed in many homes,
churches, and concert halls; with the medieval Town Hall of
Tallinn, Estonia, as its main venue. The ensemble is regularly
invited to perform at festivals, on television, radio, and has
toured Sweden and Finland. They also give performances in
schools to show young people that early music is a vibrant,
living art. The ensemble recorded its first CD in August, 2007.
The ensemble excels in music from the Middle Ages and
Renaissance eras and consists of 8 young musicians between the
ages of 9 and 18 who play recorders, flutes, violin, cello,
guitar, and percussion. They perform about 60 concerts a year,
some with professional singers such as the brilliant Estonian
soprano Eve Kopli, who will join them for their Seattle debut.
Guest soprano Eve Kopli received her training at the Schola
Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland, studying with Kathleen
Dineen and Dominique Vellard. Ms. Kopli performs regularly
with prestigious early music ensembles including La Morra,
Heinavanker, Levedy, and Rondellus, and appears as a soloist the
world over.
This
concert is presented with assistance from the Estonian Consul in
