| The Concert Assistance Program provides support services to
musician who are members of the Early Music Guild artists in presenting
their own concerts. The Guild provides limited assistance with publicity,
mailings, and ticket sales. The Early Music Guild's Concert Assistance Program is administered by
the Artists Assistance committee of
the EMG Board. A detailed description of the program and it application procedures and
qualifications follows.
CONTENTS
This EMG program is provided as a benefit to performers who are individual
members of the Early Music Guild. It assists them in self-producing early
music concerts in the Seattle area. Although the Assistance Program is
designed to support the efforts of Seattle-area musicians, aid may also be provided to
out-of-area artists at the discretion of the Executive Director and the Artists Assistance Committee.
Concerts featuring out-of-area performers or groups
must have a local representative who is a member of the Early Music Guild who will insure that pre-concert
and concert production work is
completed in a timely manner. Assistance is provided only for performances that are open
to the general public.
EMG will provide the following pre-concert and concert assistance
- A Media Guide to help artists
make media contacts
- A set of press mailing labels
- A set of mailing labels (500-2,500 as
requested) to potential concert goers
- A list of local companies that provide bulk mailing services.
- Advice regarding program and publicity production and distribution,
concert planning, and facility arrangements
- Use of EMGs credit card merchant services for at-concert ticket
sales (NOTE: EMG cannot provide pre-concert ticket sales support.)
- Chairs and stands for performance use
The applicant must be for a performance of early music by an individual
member of the Early Music Guild who resides in the greater Seattle area.
For this program, "early music" means music of the Medieval, Renaissance,
Baroque and Classical periods that is performed in the style and on instruments
(either originals or reproductions) of the appropriate period. Production considerations are also important,
including, among other factors, the proposed site of the concert, potential for conflict
between the proposed concert date(s) and other early or chamber music events. To encourage the performance of early music throughout the city and region, concerts
presented in such areas as south or west Seattle, or in outlying suburbs or towns
are eligible. The Early Music Guild is committed to making concerts accessible
to all patrons, and applicants should ascertain whether or not the proposed concert site
is accessible to wheelchairs. Accessibility is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
Concerts presented by established or incorporated groups and organizations,
such as those with 501(c)(3) status, are not eligible for these Concert
Assistance services. They are encouraged to contact the Early Music Guild
office to discuss arrangements for access to services and mailing labels.
These services are provided as a benefit to performer-members of the Early
Music Guild. Please contact the Early Music Guild office for information on
requesting these services.
