Description

Kirkland Performance Center, which opened in June 1998, is the newest addition to the Eastsides cultural renaissance. The Centers inaugural season includes performances by Seattle Childrens Theatre, Village Theatre, Northwest Chamber Orchestra and Pacific Northwest Ballet, among many others. Nearly 1,000 donors contributed to the fundraising campaign to build this $6 million curvy sandstone venue, located in downtown Kirkland, within easy walking distance of Kirklands many fine restaurants, shops, galleries and a beautiful waterfront park.

Photo of Kirkland Performance Hall stageDesigned by Becker Architects, this 402-seat maroon-and-beige theatre is spacious, yet retains an intimate feel for those who attend the more than 200 music, theatre and dance performances scheduled each year. The farthest seat is just 13 rows---40 feet---from the stage; the steep rake of the house provides excellent sightlines throughout the theatre. The term "not a bad seat in the house" has never been more appropriate. The seats are ample with extra leg room for comfortable seating. The acoustics in the theatre are designed to work equally well for both music and the spoken word. Response thus far from both artists and audiences has been tremendous.

Location

Kirkland Performance Center is on the East side of Lake Washington, approximately 20 miles North-East of Seattle. The theatre is located west of I-405, on Kirkland Avenue.
