French Baroque Tales in Music and Puppetry

Puppets
Early Music Discovery
Sunday, February 10, 1pm
Town Hall Downstairs

In the Baroque era, children and adults alike enjoyed elegant and artful puppet shows, and the fairy tales that American children learn today were just being written down. Dmitri Carter of the Northwest Puppet Center animates these old stories for all ages in the medium of shadow puppetry, with his inimitably deft humor. Music director Darlene Franz (Baroque oboe) is joined by Cecilia Archuleta (Baroque violin), Ronnee Fullerton (viola da gamba), and an ensemble of kids who add the magic aura of French Baroque music. Young apprentice musicians and puppeteers round out the crew for this unique blend of stage, sound, and story.
