Portland Viol Consort
Byrds of a Feather
October 2, 2012, 7:30 p.m.
Trinity Parish Church
For its third season in Seattle the Portland Viol Consort will present a program of Consort Songs and chamber music of the 17th century, with guest countertenor Tim Galloway. The ensemble will perform on a set of instruments by Portland Luthier Jess Wells, who died in 2010. The viols are being loaned by Bob and Janet Loy. Jess Wells viols are highly valued all over the country.
The program features music of William Byrd along with music for four viols by Jenkins, Mico, Dowland and Tallis. This will be a rare chance to hear the exquisite blend of the Wells’ instruments.
Our performances are possible only through the generous support and loyalty of friends like you. Please invest in great early music with a generous tax-deductible contribution to Early Music Guild.
